Sammanfattning (abstract):
This presentation will depart from the paradigmatic way of doing research on deception detection (i.e., having observers trying to detect what is not there), and then move on to acknowledge a new wave of research examining ways to interview to detect deception (i.e., actively elicit diagnostic cues to deception and truth). In this part the strategic principles of the so-called Strategic Use of Evidence technique (SUE) will be reviewed, and this will be followed by a discussion of the technique’s tactical dimension. Specifically, tactics with respect to (a) the evidence at hand (b) the question phase and (c) the disclosure phase will be outlined and illustrated.
