Sammanfattning (abstract):
The First International Deleuze Studies Conference "One or Several Deleuzes?" (Im)possibilities for a Non-fascist Art Academy within the Bologna process. Abctract Fredrik Svensk, Valand School of Fine Arts, University of Gothenburg. Michel Foucault once described Gilles Deleuze’s and Felix Guattari’s books on Capitalism and Schizophrenia – Anti-Oedipus and Thousand plateaus – as an “Introduction to the Non-Fascist Life”. Fascism here refers not only to what we normally think of as Fascism (black shirts – extreme masculinity etc), but rather to a “micro-fascism” in everyone’s head – the tendency for hierarchy, comparison, fixity and stasis. In other words – the tendency for representation in the broadest sense the word. Representation, plays I key role in the Bologna process. I will argue that buzzwords such as attractiveness, employability and comparability presupposes a common system of representation. In relation to the contemporary art world, and the growing academic field of artistic research, Michel Foucault’s term societies of security and Gilles Deleuze´s term Societies of Control , I want to discuss the possibility or impossibility for what I call a Non-fascist Art Academy within the Bologna process and the attempt to create a “European higher education area” in a contemporary society unlike the disciplinary societies, that seems to, “tolerate a whole host of behaviours that are different, varied, or even deviant and antagonistic toward one another”, but only as long as the can be valorised according to one common system of representation. Keywords: Gilles Deleuze, micro-fascism, globalization, post-fordism, contemporary art, contemporary art world, artistic research, societies of security, societies of security, disciplinary societies, life-long learning, Michel Foucault, The Bologna Process, valorisation, self-volaristation.
